There are two Service Desks for IT support:
- In the Andrew Kean Learning Centre – in the foyer by the library
- In the City Centre campus – on the 3rd floor.
If you’ve tried to figure things out on your own but need a friendly helping hand, or if there’s an IT problem that can only be solved in person, come to one of our Service Desks for expert guidance and device support (for LTU-owned devices).
Our IT Services guides
Each year, we produce up-to-date guides containing the most important things you need to know about the IT services provided at LTU.
Pocket Guide
You may have been given one of our pocket guides during your first days at the university. If not, you can also pick one up from the IT Service Desks in the Andrew Kean Learning Centre and at the City Centre Campus.

Connecting to Wi-Fi
We have a number of different ways to connect to our Wi-Fi systems at LTU. Which system you need depends on whether you're a guest, a member of staff or a student and whether you're staying in our on-site accommodation.
University Wi-Fi
Use your university email address and password to access Wi-Fi for free here and at learning hubs around the world.
When you log in for the first time, you will be asked to accept a trust certificate to connect. This certificate will be renewed occasionally, and you may get a notification to accept a new certificate when that happens. Certificates like this mean your personal information is kept secure wherever you are in the world.
If you have any issues connecting to Eduroam, you can contact our IT Services team, visit cat.eduroam.org, or read the eduroam FAQs.
Chromebook
You can't download the Eduroam configuration tool on a Chromebook. You can connect by using manual settings instead:
Setting | Value |
---|---|
SSID: | eduroam |
EAP Method | PEAP |
Phase 2 Auth | MSCHAPv2 |
Server CA Certificate | Default |

Your device's settings may not appear in the order shown above. If you have trouble, you can come to our Service Desks in person for more help.
Guest Wi-Fi
Connecting to Wi-Fi at Horsforth campus:
At Horsforth campus, Wifinity provides the secure, fast wireless internet access we offer to all visitors and guests.
On your smartphone, laptop or tablet:
- Go to your device’s Wi-Fi settings and tap LTU Guest
- You may be taken automatically to the login page for Wifinity, but if not, open a browser and go to hotspot.wifinity.com.
- Tap Get online
- Complete the form and choose a password - Don’t use your university password for Wifinity.
- Tap Create Account
- Accept the terms and tap Continue
- Tap Go online. Your account will last for 90 days.
Connecting to Wi-Fi at Trevelyan Square:
LTU Guest is not available at Trevelyan Square. Instead, visitors connect to LTU Visitor using a time-limited password.
- Find a digital display screen and scan the QR code. If you're not near a display screen, you can ask a member of staff to give you the password.
- Join LTU Visitor and use the alpha-numeric code as the password.
You'll be granted access for seven days, after which you'll need to follow the same process again.
Student Halls Wi-Fi
If you are staying in Halls on campus, your internet connection is provided by Wifinity.
This network is managed by Wifinity, rather than the university. There are posters in Halls with information on how to connect and log into the Wifinity network.
- Scan for wireless networks and select the Wifinity onboarding network (uncheck the 'Connect automatically' box).
You may be taken automatically to the login page for Wifinity, but if not, open a browser and go to hotspot.wifinity.com. - Sign up by providing a few key details such as your name and email address.
Don’t use your university password for Wifinity. - Shortly after signing up, you'll receive a text message and email with a text key and details for logging into the Wifinity Home network, which you can use to get online fully.
If you need more help connecting to the Wifinity network, you can contact Wifinity’s support team:

Free software
As a student or member of staff at LTU, you have access to a range of free software. The most up-to-date and detailed information about the software we offer will always be in the IT Support tile in myLTU.
Microsoft 365
As a student, you’ll receive five FREE installs of Microsoft 365 apps on your laptops and desktop computers, and a further five on mobile and tablet devices.
It's available for PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices, and you can use it on any compatible device, anytime, anywhere. You can also use the full versions of the webapps through an Edge browser.
Our Office portal is office365.leedstrinity.ac.uk. Use your university email address and password to log in.
OneDrive
OneDrive online file storage is part of the Microsoft 365 suite, and we recommend using it for all your university files. OneDrive is cloud-based, high capacity and available anywhere, not just on campus.
You can access OneDrive via the Office portal, the mobile apps or directly integrated into Windows. There’s also a desktop app for Mac.
When using Office apps, click Save as and select OneDrive – Leeds Trinity University.
Adobe Creative Cloud
If you’re on certain modules, you’ll need access to software from Adobe. We make these apps available on certain PCs in some rooms on campus and via the Creative Cloud service so you can install them on your own computer.
Our Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Eligible Modules document contains an up-to-date list of modules this applies to.
Other software
IBM SPSS
IBM SPSS is a powerful statistical software platform. It delivers a robust set of features that let you extract actionable insights from data.

For further information on using Remote Access, see our Remote Access user guide.
Printing
There are Multi-Function Devices around campus for printing, copying and scanning. Print your document from any university computer to the FollowMe_Mono or FollowMe_Colour queue and tap your student/staff card on any MFD to print from that printer.
