Therapies Receptionist, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton
I was lucky enough to also work at Leeds Trinity as a Student Ambassador and Peer Learning Mentor, where I got to work alongside some amazing people and represent the university.
Choosing Leeds Trinity
I came to Leeds Trinity because I knew I wanted to study in Leeds. I loved the city and everything it encompassed and had already decided that that was where I wanted to spend my time. After having to apply through the clearing process, Leeds Trinity was the perfect choice. Close enough to the city centre and other local areas without being in the hustle and bustle of it all.
Memorable experiences
My most memorable experience from studying at Leeds Trinity has to be the people I’ve met. I’ve made some incredible friends for life and memories I’ll never forget. From nights out, shopping, late night library trips, and living with my best friends. I was lucky enough to also work at Leeds Trinity as a Student Ambassador and Peer Learning Mentor, where I got to work alongside some amazing people and represent the University.
Overcoming challenges
Like anything, there were hard times. Being away from home wasn’t always easy, and sometimes the work was really hard. And don’t forget having to complete my final assignments and dissertation in the middle of a global pandemic! All in all though, the challenges really made me and have shown me that you can get through it, even if you don’t think so at the time.
Preparing me for my career
My time at Leeds Trinity helped prepare me in many ways. The course itself allowed me to research so many interesting topics whilst pushing myself academically. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after graduation, so I used my placements to try out different things, such as teaching, and speech and language therapy. These opportunities allowed me to try out different prospects in the working world and gain experience in ways I never thought I’d be able to. And ultimately, my time at university helped show me that they are so many options out there for after graduation and that you don’t need to limit yourself.
My role after graduating
After graduating I became a Therapies receptionist for the NHS. This role involves a variety of admin tasks such as booking appointments, taking calls, dealing with patient queries and paperwork to name a few. This role isn’t centred around my degree, but I am hoping to return to studying at some point to develop my education further.
My advice to others considering Leeds Trinity
